Just checked out the stats link on WordPress… isn’t it awesome?
It’s crazy to see how much tech has advanced. Not only can I see how many people are checking out the things I’m writing, but I can see where they’re located (in general world locations, anyway). It’s wildly amazing and frightening all at once.
I’m reminded of those science fiction authors we think of as founding fathers and the different things they came up with. I think it was Kurt Vonnegut who came up with a thought that performance (art / live / tv / ??) in the future would consist of sounds, colors and shapes/form.
Another interesting / random tidbit… was reading Kleon when he posted some pictures of Ed Ruscha on his Tumblr feed. The simple cover design that he came up with, particularly for Twentysix Gasoline Stations, is just amazing.
Book design has become such an intimating process, and while many people are used to complex covers, I think that it’s time for the pendulum to swing back to simple, much in the same way that city folk are moving back to the country and taking up farming once again. Amazing.
If anyone out there has similarly awesome things to share, I’d love to read it. Please comment & let me know what I should be checking out these days.
